Mr. Montes’ primary practice area emphasizes representing clients in employment discrimination cases, wrongful termination, wage and hour disputes, trade secrets/unfair competition, as well as general civil litigation.
Mr. Montes’ representation includes both small and medium sized businesses in service sector industries such as hotels, construction, retail, and insurance. He has obtained successful jury verdicts and has arbitrated and mediated a variety of cases involving employment-related matters. Mr. Montes acts as outside general counsel to a number of employers where tasks include oversight, coordination, and implementation of employment policies, internal investigations regarding claims of discrimination and harassment, and employee classification and pay practice compliance.
Mr. Montes has also handled complaints under investigation or prosecution by the Federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the California Department of Fair Employment & Housing (DFEH).
In addition, Mr. Montes has handled commercial litigation, products liability, premises liability and general liability matters in state and federal court. He has also served as an arbitrator and mediator for the Los Angeles Superior Court.
Mr. Montes was born in Tijuana, Mexico, in 1965. He has resided in Los Angeles, California since 1967, and is fluent in Spanish. He is married to his beautiful wife, Marcie, and father to a lovely daughter, Gabriella. Mr. Montes enjoys the outdoors, theater, sports and travel.
